BackgroundTriggers to enter Water Treatment • Offered manufacturing & Distribution rights - patent • SA is getting stricter on pollution control • Government adopting a zero tolerance approach • Principle of polluter pays • Aquamag - Design, Manufacture & Distribute WT technology
Operating Principle • Magnetic Seeding Technology • Polluted water with high turbidity flows into a reaction tank containing Magnetite • Normal water treatment polymers are used to flocculate the polluted water with the magnetite • The flocs are then removed from the water by means of permanent rare earth magnets • Magnetite and water are separated from the pollutant particles • The magnetite is returned to the reactor • Treated water is decanted • The technology is particularly suitable for the removal of turbidity

Aquamag Introduces Test unit Ballast Water Clarification with Magnetic Separation
Manufactured in SA • Units are manufactured from a qualified Data Pack • 75% local content • Registered importer and exporter
Benefits Rapid Clarification • Small footprint (Space) - No large expensive land area • High Performance –Fast, high volume through put • No filters - No fouling • High water quality & Low waste • Quick & Easy to Install • Low energy usage • Easy to Operate and Maintain • Can be integrated in existing water treatment processes • Faster, better service delivery • Cleaner environment - adherence to regulatory framework
Applications • Industrial Wastewater -Mines, Factories • Municipal Wastewater – Sewage, other • Drinking Water – Clarification process • Recycle Process Water – Factories, Mines, • Cooling water – Power Stations, Paper, .. • Food processing plants • Cleaning boats, dairies, pig farms, chicken farms, abattoirs, .. • Dredge water – (Dams, Rivers, Sea) • Storm water – from polluted areas • Holiday camps, .. • Other
Simple Design • Components locally supplied and supported • No use of mechanical filters that require cleaning • Modular Design for easy maintenance and expansion • Different Sizes available e.g. • 2.0 Ml/day • 82,8 Kl/h • 1380 l/minute • 23 l/s • 5.0 Ml/day • 208 000 Kl/h • 3470 l/minute • 57 l/s Rapid water clarification with magnetic separation • Units can easily be added to produce more flow
General • Electrical Power supply - 3 phase • Waste – Dependent on type of water (1% – 10 %) • Magnetite usage – recovered and re-used • Polymer usage Dependent on: • water throughput , type of water, etc. • Cost per kilo liter – Dependent on type of water

Algae Removal Requires • Algae is a living organism that causes water quality problems in dams and rivers • It adds toxins to the water and its decay consumes oxygen from the water • Since it is also small in size and either float or sink depending on its food and light supply, it is extremely hard to remove from water Aquamag is a water treatment system that does not rely on gravity for settling or air for floatation and works effectively • Suitable systems for algae removal are: • membrane systems • Aquamag Hartebeespoort dam
Application – Storm water & CSO • Combination of Storm water and raw Sewage causes significant environmental problems • Also contain various levels of heavy metals, oil and grease, nutrients, sediments ,etc. • The major challenges with treating CSO are : • high flow rates, intermittent flows, contain fine sediments not easy to remove, lack of treatment space, etc. • Sedimentation ponds often only hold pollution until the next large rain event • Aquamag can be integrated into a pond to create a SMART Pond that can remove fine sediments that do not settle by gravity. • The SMART Pond can periodically be dredged to remove the sediments and the dredge water can be cleaned by Aquamag
Application – Phosphorus Removal • Phosphorus mostly in soluble form • it must be complexed or precipitated before it can be removed • Aluminium and iron based chemicals (alum and ferric chloride) are typically added to flock
