  1. If you are a new parent, it will be beneficial to discover the process of claiming child benefits and securing financial support to raise your child. Here is a guide to ensure your family receives the claim.

  2. When Can Child Benefit Be Claimed When you become a new parent biologically or via adoption, or any other way. It can be claimed the day after registering your child's birth or when starts living with you. Claims can be backdated for up to three months.

  3. What is the Eligibility for the Child Benefit You can even receive child benefits for fostering a child, as long as you're not receiving any support towards them. You qualify if you have responsibility for a child under 16 years old or under 20 (in some cases). In case of adoption, you can apply for child benefits as soon as the child comes to live with you.

  4. How to Claim Child Benefit Download the HMRC app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). To access the app, sign in with your Government ID and password. Visit www.gov.uk/child-benefit/how-to-claim for an online application option for the claim. The claim can also be made by post by completing the child benefit form CH2 available at www.gov.uk/government/publications/claim-child-benefit-if-you-cannot-claim-online You can also claim by calling HMRC’s Child Benefit helpline on 0300 200 3100.
