  1. Unit 0- Number System Fractions Decimals

  2. First Day of School • Multiplication Challenge • Vocabulary Drawings • Syllabus Review • Homework- • Math About Me Equations Due Friday. • Review Syllabus with parents and you and them sign it. Due Tomorrow. • I can • review multiplication facts • write a definition and give an example of math terms

  3. Multiplication Challenge Students line up and solve multiplication problems.

  4. Vocabulary Drawings

  5. Day 1 Unit 0I can add and subtract fractions. 7.NS.1- Adding and Subtracting Rational Numbers • Warm-up Date_________ Give the LCM of each pair: 1.) 14 and 7 LCM=_______ 2.) 8 and 3 LCM=_______ 3.) 6 and 9 LCM=_______

  6. Adding FractionsI can add fractions. Find a common denominator. This is just finding the LCM of the denominators. How many times does the old denominator multiply into the common denominator? This number now is multiplied by the numerator. It is written above the new denominator. Do this for the next fraction. Add/subtract the numerators and keep the denominator the same. Simplify if needed.

  7. Subtracting FractionsI can subtract fractions. • Find a common denominator. This is just finding the LCM of the denominators. • How many times does the old denominator multiply into the common denominator? • This number now is multiplied by the numerator. It is written above the new denominator. • Do this for the next fraction. • Subtract the numerators and keep the denominator the same. • Simplify if needed.

  17. Day 3 Unit 0I can add and subtract decimals.7.NS.1- Adding and Subtracting Rational Numbers • Warm-up Date_________ 1.)= ______ 2.) 4=________ 3.) =_________

  18. Adding DecimalsI can add Decimals. 1.25 + 0.3 Line the decimals up. Add the numbers. The decimals should all be lined up.

  19. Subtracting DecimalsI can subtract Decimals. • Line the decimals up. • Subtract the numbers. • The decimals should all be lined up. 10.2 – 0.56

  20. Let’s Try it! Solve each problem. Be sure to show your work. 1.) 22.5 + 18.29 2.) 8.3-6.245

  21. You Try it! 1.) 99.327+ 15.2 2.) 19.4-0.987

  22. Name_________Date__________ Exit Ticket Day 3 Unit 0 Solve each problem. Be sure to show all of your work. 1.) 14.892 + 17.3 2.) 27.952- 19.28

  23. Day 4Unit 0I can Multiply and Dividing Decimals. 7.NS.2- Multiplying and Dividing Rational Numbers • Warm-up Date_________ Solve 1.) 22 X 15 2.) 240 ÷ 12 3.) 2.568 + 25.99 4.) 15.453-8.89

  24. Multiplying DecimalsI can Multiply Decimals. Multiply as you would with whole numbers. Count the number of spaces behind the decimal in both numbers. This is the amount of spaces that should be after your decimal in the answer. Does the answer make sense? 14.5 X 2.82

  25. Dividing DecimalsI can Divide Decimals. • Move the decimal in the divisor until you have a whole number. • Move the decimal in the dividend the same amount of spaces. • Put the decimal above the dividend in the answer space. • Divide as normal. 16.6 ÷ 3.2

  26. Let’s Try it! Solve each problem. Be sure to show your work. 1.) 42.5 X 8.23 2.) 101.4 ÷ 19.2

  27. You Try it!

  28. Name_________Date__________ Exit Ticket Day 4 Unit 0 Solve each problem. Be sure to show all of your work. 1.) 2.)

  29. Day 5Unit 0I can convert between mixed numbers and improper fractions. 7.NS.2- Multiplying and Dividing Rational Numbers • Warm-up Date_________ Solve 1.) (12 X 8) + 5=_______ 2.) (15 X3) + 6 = ______

  30. Converting mixed numbers to improper fractions • Step 1. Multiply the whole number by the denominator. • Step 2. Take the product from step one and add it to the numerator. • Step 3. The sum of step 2 is your new numerator and your denominator stays the same. Numerator Whole number Denominator

  31. Let’s Try it! Convert to an improper fraction. Be sure to show your work. 1.) 2.)

  32. You Try it! 22

  33. Improper fraction to mixed number = 12 ÷ 5 5 12 • Step 1. Divide the numerator by the denominator • Step 2. The remainder becomes your numerator and the denominator stays the same.

  34. Let’s Try it! Convert each fraction to a mixed number. Be sure to show your work. 1.) 2.)

  35. You Try it!

  36. Fraction to decimal • Step 1. Divide the numerator by the denominator • Step 2. add zeros and repeat long division until the decimal terminates or repeats (.333…) = 5 ÷ 8 8 5.0000

  37. Let’s Try it! Convert each fraction to a decimal. Be sure to show your work. 1.) 2.)

  38. You Try it!
