Outline • KOCSEA 2010 Officers and Advisors • Overview of the current meeting • President Election • Planning for next year’s meeting
Location • Several candidate locations • Irvine, CA • Los Angeles, CA • Dallas, TX • Atlanta, GA • Chicago, IL • Considerations: local professionals, local students, local industry, cost, etc. • Any volunteers?
Other Points of Discussion • Increasing student participation and industry participation. • Co-locating with other major conferences (where many KOCSEA members attend). • Obtaining ACM/IEEE endorsement. • Journal of Comp. Sci. and Eng. (Prof. Insup Lee)
Collaboration with ETRI • Specific mechanisms needed. • Organization-level support: long term and steady, but hard to set up. • Collaborative projects: Short-term,transient. • Mechanisms • Co-organize meeting on themes that ETRI is interested in. • Provide ideas to set up a project at ETRI. Grant through outsourcing. • Invited foreign expert seminar series. • Need a solid logic • Potential for recruiting: some issues due to quota on hiring • Leveraging KOCSEA member’s expertise, information, ideas, etc. • Technology trend report could also help (deeper inside knowledge can be valuable to ETRI). • San Jose branch of ETRI – mostly for commercialization. • Conference registration fee one of few methods. • Web-casting. Archival video taping of sessions. • KOTRA: wants a database of experts and expertise for potential consulting needs. • UKC is the only meeting currently supported by ETRI – some issues regarding redundancy of funding KOCSEA. • KOCSEA special issue in ETRI journal? Guest editorship. Paper review.
