  3. Council for Allied Health Professionals Research • Created in 2014 by bringing together the Research Forum for Allied Health Professionals (RFAHP) and the Allied Health Professions Research Network (AHPRN). • Comprises a strategy committee, a professoriate and a UK-wide regional hub network.

  4. CAHPR AIMS • to develop AHP research, • strengthen evidence of the professions’ value and impact for enhancing service user and community care, • to enable the professions to speak with one voice on research issues, • to raise the profile of AHP research and increase their influence.

  5. 12 Member organisations • British and Irish Orthoptic Society • College of Paramedics • Chartered Society of Physiotherapy • Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists • Society and College of Radiographers • The College of Podiatry • College of Occupational Therapists • The British Dietetic Association • The British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists • British Association of Art Therapists • The British Association for Music Therapy • The British Association of Dramatherapists

Yorkshire and HumberCAHPR hubs • In 2016 the 2 CAHPR hubs - Yorkshire and South Yorkshire started working collaboratively. • In 2017 we received joint funding to host a number of activities. • Linked with National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) clinical research network in Yorkshire and Humber & Research design service • Joining with Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC)

Yorkshire CAHPR activity planned for 2017 Events: Face to face • Initial routes into research • How to persuade your manager to support your research project. • Writing for publication using different media – Sept 27th Hull Events: Webinars • Meaningful Patient /Public involvement • Complex Interventions • Funding streams – what to apply for and how - • Researcher project dissemination x3 or 4 per event • AHP Clinician who Researches Career Competency Framework scoping project - Jointly funded project between CAHPR and Yorkshire CLAHRC Small projects awards -Joint CAHPR Yorkshire and Teeside venture of four awards of up to £500 each Improved co-ordination between organisations and professions to disseminate details of relevant studies currently recruiting. Increased AHP membership of NIHR CRN local & national special interest research groups Support groups for more niche AHP research interests e.g. management

What can CAHPR do to help you? • Information portal regarding funding, internships and fellowship opportunities, AHP portfolio studies & surveys • Innovative opportunities to collaborate across AHP and other professions locally and nationally • Top tips & other resources • Education sessions • Support and advice • Funding • Influencing and lobbying nationally

  9. What can you do to help CAHPR? • Become a member or stakeholder • Be willing to share your experiences/ knowledge • Share useful resources • Host a session or offer accommodation • Be willing to support others who are less experienced than you • Be a recruiting site for others research

What can you do to help AHP Research? • Participate in priority setting exercises • Recruit to relevant NIHR portfolio studies • Promote the value of research to your patients and encourage them to sign up to research recruitment websites • Link with local HEIs or AHP research leads in your area of specialty to express interest in being a recruiting centre for their studies • Have contact with your research and development department or specialty research nurses to see if there are any under recruiting studies that your department/ service may be able to assist with recruitment

Integrated Clinical Academic Programme • Funded by Health Education England in partnership with National Institute for Health Research • Range of opportunities to take clinical staff from pre Masters internships, through Masters, PhD, Clinical Lectureships to Senior clinical lectureships. • Competitive • Offer fully funded research training, funding support for research, professional development, mentorship • Individual maintains their clinical practice and salary
