JAPAN 2010 33rd APEC Transportation Working Group, Tokyo, Japan, October 10-14 2010 MTOW as a trigger for the revision of security settings • Amongst all factors of aircraft design, weight or capacity, MTOW is an appropriate trigger for a number of reasons: • Consistent across aircraft regardless of method of propulsion. • Airframe, fuel load, passenger and baggage weight are all considered. • MTOW cannot be altered unless the aircraft is recertified by the manufacturer.
