1. What is a watershed? • A watershed is a region drained by, or one that contributes water to, a stream, lake, or other body of water.
2. How are watersheds separated from one another? • Watersheds are separated by topographic highs called divides.

4. Name PA’s 5 major watersheds and the main rivers that drain each. • The Great Lakes Basin is divided into 2 sub-basins: the Erie Basin & the Genesee basin. Some major streams in the Erie Basin are Conneaut, Elk, & Walnut Creeks, all of which drain north into Lake Erie. The Genesee Basin’s major tributary is the Genesee R., which flows into Lake Ontario.
