  1. The Glazing System The third layer of glazing as detailed SHS corner connection is fixed using a cleat plate and bolt connection which is then welded to frame to provide a maximum rigidity. Extruded aluminium 100mm wide spanning between the rafters to allow for two panes of glass. Note the angle of the SHS coming away from the North –East elevation of the building. Extruded aluminium 150mm wide to allow for three panes of glass fixed to SHS viz screw. It is then stitch welded and sealed with a polyurethane based sealant. Roof Wall

  2. SHS Connection This is a 1:1 isometric representation of the North East corner of the building. It demonstrates two examples of triple glazing as well as a bolted connection via end cleats welded to the beams and welded on site for optimal performance.

  3. Steel Hollow Section This photo shows the tripled glazed roofing system which employs two layers between the roofing members with the third layer on top prevent water infiltration and allow for water run off. This photo represents the third layer of the triple glazed roofing system. It shows the extruded aluminium connection that is fixed to the SHS and allows separate panes of glass to be connected.

  4. Flashing System This image shows the flashing system employed for the triple glazing system on the walls. It consists of galvanised steel angle flashing 75 x 75 which is then inserted and fixed behind the extruded aluminium frame. The corners are finished using a mitre style connection which is sealed with a polyurethane based sealant.

  5. Welding Technique Most hollow section connections are first fixed into place with a cleat plate and bolt connection to first establish the exact positioning of the frame. The connections are then welded to not only seal the exposed ends of the SHS but to also add to the maximum strength of the steel frame.
