  4. Unsecure Online Transaction • Have you ever bought something online? • Almost everyone has. • Was that transaction secure? • Without having a secure website, the website may sell your information unless otherwise stated in the Private Policy.

  5. How do I know if my website is secure? • On most new websites, there is a lock icon in (or by) the URL box. • Click this button • It will lock or secure the page.

  6. Spyware • Spyware comes in many forms. • Trojan horses • Adware • Cookies • Spyware can come from simply opening an email, or by downloading software from an unknown source.

  7. How do I protect against Spyware? Spyware is one of the hardest thieves to protect against. • The most common ways are as follows: • Buy anti-spyware from a trusted source. • Keep your personal software updated • Install Firewalls • Install Anti-Spyware Scanners

  8. Have you ever heard of dumpster diving? • Identity thieves will actually dive into dumpsters to receive personal information. • From your own garbage!

  9. How do I protect my Garbage? Dumpster diving is very easy to protect against. • The simplest ways are as follows: • Shred, • Burn, • Or black out the information. • This includes mail, magazines, old credit cards, and prescription bottles.
