Role of Management • „Child Protection is Everybody‘s business“Everybody and particularly Management Examples from SOS Children‘s Village Organisation: • Senior Management Team‘s message-Child Protection Statement- sent to all National Associations in 2004 • National Association Management asking for and therefore triggering the development of a monitoring frame for Child Protection - The CP Project Charter • Management providing an atmosphere where Child Protection thrives by allocating resources continuously & deliberately over a definite period of time.

Some challenges faced • No reporting structure in place • Concealment of abuse cases • No CP Policy document available • No awareness for safety and security procedures • Lack of coordinated training on CP issues • Management trainings did include CP Policy
Structure and Training • Program implementation to safeguard children within our care. • Child Protection Policy (CPP) awareness and programs for all Core Care Workers – Orientation. • Child/ Youth friendly CPP awareness for all children and youths. • An open reporting structure for all of the above. • Ongoing refresher training programs.
Policy Paper and support documents • CPP awareness and understanding for all ages – language and age appropriate. • Code of conduct role-out and re-orientation. • Code of ethics in place. • Safety/Security regulations and procedures in place – to safeguard all children within our care.
People and awareness • Working with internal and external resources on CPP awareness and handling. • Stakeholder involvement – Childline, RAPCAN, Police, Community Based Organisations (CBO). Organisations we work with, and in partnership with. • Ongoing refresher training.
