OBJECTIVES NATAC aims to: • Provide a comprehensive analysis of rules regulating the acquisition and loss of citizenship in the 15 EU Member States before the latest round of accessions • Identify trends of long-term convergence or persistent divergence between these Member states • Evaluate the individual policies and make policy recommendations to both Member State governments and the EU
APPROACH • Multidisciplinary: legal, political and statistical analyses • Comparative: a) country reportsb) questionnaires on legal regulations, statistical data and specific issues such as European and international law or the role of gender in nationality law • Intersectorial: shadow reports on application of laws by NGOs
