Zoom Toolbar Zoom in Zoom out Pan Selection box to window Overview in box Overview in window • The zoom functions apply to network diagrams and re-scale • Component symbols
Text Options • There are 3 types of text: • node text • component text • network text • Invoked by selecting from the toolbar Component text font Component text on/off Node text font Node text on/off Network text font Network text on/off Add network text Move text Renumber
Text Options • Text can be associated to the nearest component or super-component • The options can be accessed by ‘alternate’ clicking on the network schematic
Configuration Files • Network configuration settings can be defined • Allowing changes to colours, text and options • These can be stored as group or individual preferences
Component Data Entry (NB. Steady State filter set) Collection of components to update Allows selection of different friction options Subform expanded Information about the specific data item
Copy Data • Any data item that has a tick is copied • Copy Method:
Component Data Required • Upstream pressure source • total pressure = 1.5 bar • Discrete loss • area = 7.85x10-3 m2 • forward loss coefficient = 50 • reverse loss coefficient = 50 • Pipe • length = 100 m • friction option 1 • roughness = 0.025 mm • diameter = 0.1 m • Orifice • pipe diameter = 0.1 m • orifice diameter = 0.05 m • Downstream pressure source • total pressure = 1 bar
Node Data Entry Add specfic node number to list Specify collection of nodes Table of nodal data
Node Data Required • Elevations shown • All nodes are ‘wet’ • No nodes have the autovap model
General Data • Same sheet as for component data entry • Data required: • fluid type • Water (SS) • Hydrol 46 (FS) • ambient temperature = 20 oC • atmospheric pressure = 1 bar • Start
Proceed with analysis? • Analysis progress Analyse • Analysis completed • Success? • View Errors if No • View warnings if Yes
Errors, Warnings and Log Files • Error File • written to if analysis fails • error messages point to the problem • empty if run successful • Warning File • contains assumptions made • non-convergence warnings • parameter out of range and curve extrapolation warnings • Log File • record of general data entries • record of fluid properties • repeat of errors and warnings • tabulated results data • can be customised
Results • List of results available • Gives details to help identify particular results sets Open, description and delete options become available when the result is selected
Component Results Can draw results on network including colour coding Create gradient of results Steady State results Can obtain list of results
Node Results Can collect nodes to display results Table of node results Can see results on network diagram Plot graph of results
Node Result • Pressures at node level displayed on network diagram
Node Result • Three buttons that allow • single line on graph • overlay facility • keep graph when another is plotted Plotting area
Model a Transient event in this case, a varying upstream pressure Need some additional data assign pressure vs time curve model an elastic pipe with wave speed of 1000 m/s time step = 0.011s analysis run for 5s Review results Same Example - Transient
Assign a Performance Curve • Curve • Surface • Equation • Stored within an expandable database • Will cover the database features later
Run-Time Displays • Run-time colours can be applied to a visible schematic to indicate varying • Pressure • Flow Rate • Temperature • Run-time graphs can also be displayed • These are covered later
Transient Results List of components in the network • Can plot graphs of time history variations With Time selected results can be animated after analysis Different ways of viewing the results independent of time Different ways of viewing time varying results View results from a branch of a component Select an internal node within the pipe
Transient Results • Can overlay component and node results • Can overlay results with different units • can re-stack the axes
View of Log File • Data contained can be customised • Useful if wish to extract certain results • e.g. for inclusion in a report • Define in ‘Report’ when results selected • Can also view warnings and errors files
Creating a Customised Log File Select to view errors or warnings files Select here to view entire log file To view the log file as defined below Select here to view customised log file Can add new customised log file, edit an existing one or delete one. This area is specific to AC analyses and provides different options for displaying P-h diagrams.
Can define data to include: component node specific parameters Customising a Log File
The Log File The standard log file A customised log file
