  4. Let’s divide the 55 boxes into 5 parts

  5. We must choose 3 out of these 5 parts 33 boxes!

  6. 5 5 Let’s try one... 3 of 5 ÷ 33 = x Denominator Numerator Whole number

  7. 5 6 Another one... 4 of 7 ÷ 32 = x Denominator Numerator Whole number

  8. 8 1 Follow the formula and it’s easy... 6 of 9 ÷ 54 = x Denominator Numerator Whole number

  9. 9 6 Last one... 9 of 12 ÷ 72 = x Denominator Numerator Whole number

  10. Important Note • When you are finding a fraction of a whole quantity you are finding a part of that quantity, so: • The UNITS of your answer will be the SAME as the units of the whole quantity • Your answer will ALWAYS be SMALLER than the whole quantity, because it is part of it!
