Introduction • Cheshire & Merseyside Bowel Cancer Screening Centre working towards PDU status • PDU facilitates practice that is leading edge and evidence based – it is beneficial to both patients and staff • Began the process in March 2008 • In conjunction with Edge Hill University and University Hospital Aintree • Whole team involved

Aims • Guarantees the highest standards of care • Confidence the basics of care are being met • Opportunity to be involved and influence at clinical, operational and strategic level • Clinically-based proven approach to the workplace • Development of the whole team
Approach • Developed Steering Group • Developed Core Group/s • Assessed the current service – then formed PDU action plan
Examples of Progress on Action Plan • Audit of histology waiting times • Audit of travel times • Developed PDU resource room • Revised patient information • Report on patient feedback • Research & audit training workshops • Teaching on national SSP course at Liverpool John Moore’s University
