She retired in 2014 after a long career teaching history and literature at several high schools in Old Brookville, New York. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Fredonia.
Debra Purcell-RegisVolunteer Coordinator Debra Purcell-Regis is currently working part-time as a volunteer coordinator at a community center near her home. In 2014 she retired after a twenty-five year career teaching literature and history at the high school level. She says that she misses being able to influence young people, which she always considered a great privilege.
Motivating Students Debra Purcell-Regis spent many years teaching high school. She says that while humility is a natural component of her personality, she isn't afraid to say that she was a very good teacher. In her view, good teaching is as much about passion and being able to reach students as it is about a good lesson plan.
