  4. Part Two: Study the following. • By study, I mean: • Watch/listen closely • Don’t be passive. Don’t “mouth breathe”.

  5. Part Three: Study the following “text” again. Write down how any of the following terms are used. • Imagery • Irony • Juxtaposition • Repetition • Central Theme • Symbolism • Point of View • Allusion • Setting Description • Tone • Tension/Conflict • Intended Audience

  6. Studying a “text” = being an active thinker

  7. Being an active thinker = thinking critically about the subject matter to which you’re exposed: • Making connections • Asking questions • Raising questions

  8. Thinking critically = making neural connections

  9. Making neural connections = increasing the density of your brain

  10. Increasing the density of your brain = making you smarter
