Habitat • Badgers are mostly found living in the forests of Europe and western Asia. • Lives in underground burrows which often contains a maze of tunnels • The badger population in great Britan is about 300,000. • Mixed woodlands • Pasture lands • Clearings
Characteristics • Can grow to nearly a meter in leant, as big as a loggerhead sea turtles shell! • Related to otters and weasels • Typical badgers have short legs and they tend to be heavy built. • Five toes on each foot. • The eyes are small and the ears are short and tipped with white. • Long claws and flattened body. • Carry type of rabies

Fun Facts • Known to fight off bigger mammals such as wolfs and coyotes and bears! Some reports over the years have been of badgers being particularly aggressive towards dogs and humans! • The Asian stink badger was once classified as an badger but today is thought to be more related to a skunk than a badger. • Can run 30 km. an hour for a short period of time. • Generally a peaceful animal, having been known to share its home with rabbits, red foxes and raccoon dogs. • Males called boars, females called sows. • Badgers can live up to 15 years in the wild. • Cubs are pink with greyish silvery fur.
