General Information • All Connecticut public school students in grades 3-8 and grade 10 participated in the statewide assessment in March. Students in grades 11 and 12 may have retaken any part of the CAPT if they did not previously met goal in that part. • The test measures skills that students are expected to master in reading, writing, science and mathematics. • Some special education students might have taken a alternative test.
District Reference Groups District Reference Groups (DRGs) have been defined based on characteristics such as income and education level of parents because research indicates that there is a strong link between test results and socioeconomic factors. DRG B: Avon, Region 5, Region 15, Simsbury, Orange, West Hartford, Madison, Brookfield, Trumbull, Greenwich, Cheshire, New Fairfield, Guilford, Fairfield, Monroe, South Windsor, Newtown, Farmington, Glastonbury, Woodbridge, and Granby.

Sample CMT Science Item Grade 5 A student thinks that birds eat the same food as squirrels. Which of the following would give her data to answer the question? NCLB All Guilford schools have made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) based on Connecticut Mastery Test and Connecticut Academic Proficiency Test data.
