About Pure Innovations • Independent not for profit Ltd company July 2005 • TUPE transferred 122 staff from SMBC • Pure Innovations Ltd – National organisation • Manage day services in the North West • Supported employment: • Manchester, Stockport, London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Northamptonshire and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea • Consultancy to local authorities

Valuing Employment Now Key messages from Government • More people with learning disabilities should have jobs • Increase the number of people with learning disabilities in real jobs by 2025 • As many people as possible with jobs over 16 hours per week
What needs to happen • Make sure that everyone believes people with learning disabilities can work • Better work preparation at school • Local Authorities to make it easier for individuals to get the support they need to help them find a job • They are expected to give more jobs to people with learning disabilities
What needs to happen • Each Local Authority should have a delivery plan for employment • Everyone should know that paid jobs are important • Work should be part of a person centred plan • Supported employment should be available • Personal budgets should be used to buy the support
