Comparison of Human Hairs Hair evidence is found in a great variety of crimes. Most commonly, it is evidence at scenes of crime and violence such as criminal sexual assault. This natural color is due to the cluster of melanin, whereas dyed hair has a coating on the surface • Disease, Mistreatment: Diseased, teased or artificially straightened or curled hair can usually be detected under a microscope
