ADVANTAGES OF PIE & DOUGHNUT CHARTS • Size of the circle can be made proportional to the total quantity it represents • Summarize a large data set in visual form • It is visually simpler than other types of graphs • Require minimal additional explanation • Easily understood: Widely used in business and the media • Pie charts are also immune to the distortion caused by a change in scale
ADVANTAGES OF PIE AND DOUGHNUT CHARTS (cont.) • The relative proportions of multiple classes of data is easier to see • It is harder to figure out from the bar chart that the red is about half of the total
