The Cafeteria Schedule Monday- Saturday Breakfast 8:00am-9:00am Lunch 11:30am-2:00pm Dinner 5:00pm-7:00pm Sunday Brunch 11:00am-1:00pm Dinner 5:00pm-6:00pm
Payment Methods Students and faculty are able to pay two different ways; • Pre-paid plans • Pay as you eat plan
Problems with current options Unfortunately, the cafeteria's hours do not take into account the fact that it is extremely difficult to reach the cafeteria, choose food, pay and get back to class within the ten-to-fifteen minute time currently allotted between classes, especially for the students who have a pre-paid plan.
Student Example • Consider a student who has one class on lower campus that runs from 4-5:15, another class that begins at 5:30 and ends at 6:45, and a third class that begins at 7:00 and ends at 8:15. Unless that student is Superman, he or she will find it impossible to make it to the cafeteria, pay, eat, and return promptly to their next class.
Attempts to address the problem • A student with a meal conflict because of class, is currently able to request a meal to be put aside for them. • The Grill is open during off hour times until 9:00 pm selling products for cash only.
Problems with the attemptfor pre-paid students. • The problem with a “Meal Conflict” meal is that the food is usually cold and has a left over feeling. • pre-paid students feel as though they deserve a fresh meal because of the amount of money that they have pre-paid. • With the recent tuition raise in attempts to be competitive with other universities we should also become competitive in areas such as the cafeteria and its functions.
Student solutions • Extend meal times beyond 7:00 pm. • Keep grill open until 9:00 pm free of charge for prepaid students. • Follow the lead of other universities implementing a system in which pre-paid students can get a meal at any time during the day.
