A’s : EMF is measured in Volts, or energy per unit charge. If an electron is accelerated across a potential difference of 15V, it hits a nitrogen atom and ionises it. This means it knocks one electron off. What is the energy used in doing so? Why would this change if it knocked off 2 electrons?
B’s : EMF is measured in Volts, or energy per unit charge. Combine this with energy÷ time = power Charge ÷ time = current To show in 5 steps how we get potential difference (V) = power / current If an electron travels across a potential difference of 40V, with enough force to ionise (knock an electron off) another atom, with the knocked off electron giving a current of 1.5A, what is the power?

Test-time An electron travels across a potential difference of 7.5V. It hits a Magnesium atom and ionises it, by knocking an outer electron off. What is the energy our initial electron had? This takes 2 seconds, what is the current? Why can we work out the power? What is it? Why is this EMF not voltage?
Answers: Energy = voltage x charge = 4.5 x 1.6 x 10-19 Current = charge x time = 2 x 4.5 x 1.6 x 10-19 Because power is energy/time, or current x voltage. = 4.5 x 2 x 4.5 x 1.6 x 10-19 Because energy is being transferred it is an EMF!
