Why do we bring our students to Camp JOLT? “Because Camp JOLT provides students with Educational Adventures to Promote Environmental Stewardship, Personal Growth, and Academic Excellence.” – fifth grade teacher We as educators cannot recreate these outdoor experiences in our classrooms. This is a once in a lifetime experience!

  3. Research says… • Research shows that the great majority of adults who are active in the environmental science, engineering, and advocacy fields had formative outdoor experiences during childhood

  4. General Information • Ideally, Camp JOLT provides ONE Instructor for each 12 students • Camp JOLT provides all equipment necessary to conduct real science investigations • Sessions are aligned with TEKS. • Indoor and Outdoor Classrooms with Heat/AC (over 660 acres!)

  5. Program • We’re staying for 3 days and 2 nights. • Leaving on Monday and returning on a Wednesday • Boys: March 12-14 • Girls: April 16-18

  6. JOLT Program Sessions( aligned with TEKS ) • Waders in the Wetlands • Soils Investigation • Ins and Outs of Trees • Fossils • Animal Tracking • Ornithology • Weather Watch • Survival Skills • Night Hike w/smores • Critical Thinking • GPS Scavenger Hunt

  7. The make-up of a JOLT staff member • Highly trained instructors • College degrees • Wide range of backgrounds • A great understanding of WILD and Globe Programs • Trained for CPR, First Aid, AED • (1) Wilderness First Responder • High Ropes Certified Sandi Kelly Ryan Travis Brad Andrew

  8. Teacher Advisory Board With help from our Advisory Board, we are constantly improving our curriculum and creating tools that teachers can use back in their classrooms. Daniele Clark, Spicer Elementary - Birdville ISD Nancy Gardner, Elliott Elementary – Frisco ISD

Health and Safety • American Campers Association Certified • First Aid, CPR, Boater Safety • Extensive background check for every employee • Automated External Defibrillators at all major meeting places • Nurses Cabin • Closest Hospital is 16miles away and Volunteer Fire Dept is 1 mile away • Handicap accessible facilities • Call boxes strategically located on our property • All instructors are in constant communication via radios

Our Facilities • Nurse’s Cabin - sleeps two adults separate from 4 students • Fossil and Butterfly Garden • Volleyball, Basketball Courts • Large Activity Field • Modern cabins – heat/air, each with their own restrooms • Dining hall – heat/air, salad bar, vegetarian option • Large Indoor meeting space • Beautiful Porch fronting the water for that quiet moment
