  3. Our roles in the stone smoothing: • As newborn babies, clean up (2:1-3) • As living stones, build up (2:4-8) • As God’s chosen ones, speak up (2:9-10)

  8. We need to clean up because we form a spiritual temple for God.

  10. Living stone--Greek • Not petra= rock • Not petros = loose stone by the roadside • lithos= a worked stone, whether a stone used in a building or a precious stone
