How did we make the video first of all? • We made different Films (a lot) and then uploaded them onto our Computer where we changed the video file to .avi. Moreover we uploaded these various videos onto the Software we were using to Edit our video and after cutting scenes and videos, adding edited pictures (collages) , adding voiceovers and blank screens with subtitles, we arranged them into the right order added transitions and effects and we were done. :D Now all there was left to do was upload it to YouTube and save it.
We used our Camera and Mobile to Interview different people…. • Camera- To film different customers while being interviewed, film ourselves and take pictures of different clothing items and Computers. • Mobile Phone- To record some interviews, who didn’t feel comfortable to be filmed.
What Video Editing Software did we use, and what Website did we use to edit some pictures? • Picnik: we used this website to edit images and make collages as you can see in the video the Website: www.picnik.com it is very easy to use! • VideoPad Video Editor: we used this software to edit our video since it offers many effects is easy to use and any files can be edited.

A list of effects used in our video… • -slow motion • -fast forward • -reverse • -sepia • -hue and hue cycle • -brightness • -warp • -spin • Splits • Subtitles • Rotate • Crop • Zoom • Auto-zoom • Black and White • Edge Detection • Negative • Oil painting • Smoothness There was no particular reason for why we used them on a particular clip but mainly because it made the clip look different, special or it just suited to the specific clip which looked rather boring without any effect.
Slow motion • We used this effect on videos we found extremely special and agreed needed to stand out. Slow motion is perfect since it provides tension and never fails to grab the viewers attention.
SLOW MOTION This video clip is in Slow motion Other effects speed Transition
Reverse • We used the Reverse effect, when we started the actual video, the actual project to show that its time to get started. Other times you can use this effect for flashbacks or time traveling.
REVERSE The Selected Clip Play clip backwards.
Fast Forward • We used this when the selected clip was somewhat not necessary, however still relevant and needed as an example/evidence for the Project.
FAST FORWARD Selected clip Speed: 160
Transitions are Important since this is how one clip goes on to the next clip, which is necessary. It perfections the video itself and is the perfect end to a short or long video clip and leads onto the next one smoothly. We used Transitions between each clip in our 4 minute long video. Transitions DIFFERENT TRANSTITIONS TO CHOOSE FROM…
Voiceovers and Volume • When the Audio of the Video clip itself is to low for ones ears to extinguish you can add your own voiceover which will be playing while you are watching a particular clip. We did this quite a few times throughout our video. • For Example: When the screen showed the drive to our school Eism a voiceover explaining our project was playing in the background. • Since different tracks might be playing at the same time the volume of each should be edited wisely so the Background Music can be heard clearly, yet the Audio or Voiceover is loud enough and understandable.
Cutting and Splitting? • When there are unnecessary parts of a Video clip we can edit it out by selecting the scene and cutting it out by pressing the Split button. This makes the video automatically shorter however prevents long unnecessary pauses or camera shakiness.
Adding Subtitles and Blank ‘Slides’ • In our case we noted down the advantages and disadvantages of some of the Computers and displayed this information in our video as a Subtitle while Images where shown in the Background. Some text was displayed with a Blank Screen as a background. • The amount of time the Information should be seen for has to usually be edited as the Information should only be displayed for a few seconds the same with the Blank Screen.
Music • We used three Different Songs- • Viva la Vida- Colplay • Mama do the Hump- Rizzle Kicks • Clocks- Colplay • Call me Maybe- Carly Rae Jepsen • Each song played for a short amount of time and faded out at the right moment and not long after the next song was introduced. We only added bits of each of the Songs to our Video and depending on the Data/Video clips displayed on the Screen we added the music matching the actions/atmosphere of the video. • For example- When images of different Clothing Items flashed on the screen, we combined this with upbeat music to grab the viewers attention.
Final Touches • Depending on how long the Video is and on how many effects you have added, the amount of time it takes alters. After the Final Touches the video should be saved, in our case uploaded to YouTube and burnt on a CD as a backup. It can be viewed on either source, or Windows media player, however can as well be previewed on the Software itself (Full Screen)
Thank you for watching!!! • We hope you enjoyed watching our video • We hope you have an idea of how we created this video • We hope you would be able to create you own video using this software. -Katharina and Sarah 9BB
