  1. RESSCW Renewable Energy and Sustainability on the Santa Cruz Wharf Abstract: A test bed has been deployed on the roof of the Wharf Headquarters Building that has censors to measure solar irradiance, wind speed, and wind direction, as well as a solar panel and vertical axis wind turbine that generate electricity and send it to a dummy load (batteries), and some will power the wharf maintenance vehicle. The solar and wind data will be analyzed to determine the feasibility of using renewable energy sources at this coastal location. Additionally, we have partnered with Ecology Action’s RightLights Program to perform energy efficiency audits on participating businesses. Solar Radiation vs. Day Goals and Outcomes: The censors on the test bed are currently collecting solar radiation, wind speed, and wind direction data, but we do not have enough time to have a year’s worth of data, which may be a project next year. The solar panel and vertical axis wind turbine are on schedule to be installed by June. Three businesses have agreed to do energy audits, our goal is at least three more.
