Planning Ahead – what to watch for • Midyear Enrollee Sample: PTD expectations, cont. Spring 2011 = initial enrollment Fall 2011 = 2nd semester Spring 2012 • Will need to meet 18 hrs (again) • Be aware of Fall course request • Will summer school be necessary? Fall 2012 = 4th semester • Declare major by January • 40% by January
Planning Ahead – what to watch for • Previous Enrollment • repeated courses • duplicate courses Reviewing an isolated schedule can be misleading! Sample : Student-Athlete in 4th semester • ECON 2005 • PSYC 2004 • MATH 1526 • SPAN 1106
Planning Ahead – what to watch for Repeated Courses Fall 2009 ENGL 1105 MUS 1104 TA 2014 ACIS 1504 Spring 2010 ENGL 1106 GEOS 1024 HTM 2454 HUM 2734 • Fall 2010 ECON 2005 SOC 2004 MATH 1525 SPAN 1105 • Spring 2011 ECON 2005 PSYC 2004 MATH 1526 SPAN 1106
Planning Ahead – what to watch for Duplicate Courses Fall 2009 ENGL 1105 MUS 1104 TA 2014 ACIS 1504 Spring 2010 ENGL 1106 GEOS 1024 HTM 2454 HUM 2734 • Fall 2010 ECON 2005 SOC 2004 MATH 1525 SPAN 1105 • Spring 2011 ECON 2005 PSYC 2004 MATH 1526 SPAN 1106
Planning Ahead – what to watch for • Credits Toward Degree • minor • change major “Required” Courses ≠ Degree Applicable Credits toward minor. Credits required for intended major rather than current major.
Planning Ahead – what to watch for Example: Change of Major Fall 2010 – MKTG major 12 credits = applicable to MKTG student passes 9 of 12 Spring 2011 – MKTG major student intends to switch to HTM student enrolls in 12 credits 6 credits = applicable to MKTG 12 credits = applicable to HTM
Planning Ahead – what to watch for Example: Change of Major, cont.
