Fall 2010 – MKTG (9 hrs earned) Spring 2011 – MKTG (6 hrs) – HTM (12 hrs) What if student declares HTM in April? 6 hrs= met | 18 hrs= met (9+12) What if students declares HTM in August? 6 hrs = met | 18 hrs = not met (9+6) % requirement is based solely on major at time of certification (once/semester)

  19. SAASS Continuing Eligibility Monitoring SAASS Academic Coordinators are responsible for the eligibility monitoring of student athletes with whom they work independent of the University Registrar.

  20. SAASS Continuing Eligibility Monitoring • Class Schedule Review • Full Time Enrollment • Full Time Enrollment Exception • NCAA 6 Hour Requirement • 18 Hours Each Academic Year • 24 Hours First Year

SAASS Continuing Eligibility Monitoring • NCAA Percentage of Degree Review • Designated degree program beginning of 5th semester of full time enrollment (note:Recertification will not occur after initial certification of designated major) • Review of potential majors prior to designation for undecided majors • Review of potential majors prior to change of major • Determination of 40 percent of degree completed by the start of 5th semester • Determination of 60 percent of degree completed by the start of 7th semester • Determination of 80 percent of degree completed by the start of 9th semester

SAASS Continuing Eligibility Monitoring • NCAA/Virginia Tech Cumulative GPA Requirement Review • Start of second year: 90 percent of GPA required – 1.80 GPA • Start of third year: 95 percent of GPA required – 1.90 GPA • Start of fourth year: 100 percent of GPA required – 2.00 GPA • Virginia Tech requires all students to maintain a minimum 2.00 GPA
