Flat Top Bunch Shape for Modulation Enhancement Studies • Make bunches with flat tops 20 modulation lengths wide • Soften the tail drop-off to prevent edge-effects affect the middle plateau • Use 1500 –2500 sub-bunches to achieve a smoothly modulated profile • Current at flat top is 6kA • Run bunch at 5 GeV without compression through the benchmark chicane
