About the artist.... Angela is a self-taught Canadian artist. She was raised in Northern Ontario in the rural community on a dairy farm. She enjoys working in watercolors and acrylics, and has recently discovered a fond love for oil paints. Bright and raw colours are her go-to palette, while always experimenting with new techniques and styles in an effort to continously grow as an artist. Currently graduated from Cambrian College with an advanced diploma in Medical Radiation Technology, and previously attained a degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Western Ontario, she resides in Owen Sound, where she works as a MRT in a rural hospital. http://www.artbyangie.ca/about.html
"The Turning" is about the gradual turning of the leaves and how they demonstrate life changes and progression, but also how life is cylindrical - as the leaves go from life to death on a seasonal basis. http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=21665
Angela Vandenbogaard’s watercolor artwork literally jumps out at you, and a peek into her profile reveals why: she loves using bright, high contrast colors.
“Retro Falling” is of a tree in the final stages before it drops its leaves for the winter, fall. I feel that the leaves in the fall have such a ‘retro-ness’ to them, with the reds, oranges, browns, and neutral-like greens and blues.
"Branching" can be interpreted in many ways. The way I like to look at it is, when we're born and as we grow up as children, we are our own selves but still grounded by our parents and surroundings, but as we grow up we continue to develop into more of an individual, until we reach a full potential and bloom / grow (leaves).
