CLEF 2010 – CLEF-IP • Official Site: http://www.ir-facility.org/research/evaluation/clef-ip-10 • The CLEF-IP track was launched in 2009 to investigate IR techniques for patent retrieval • The track will utilize a slightly larger data collection as in CLEF-IP'09, of patent documents derived from EPO sources, covering English, French, and German patents. • Two kinds of tasks are planned for 2010: • Prior Art Task: find patent documents that constitute prior art to a given patent application. • Classification Task: classify a given patent document according to the IPC and/or ECLA.

PAN 2010 Lab • Link: http://www.uni-weimar.de/medien/webis/research/workshopseries/pan-10/ • Plagiarism detection in text documents is a challenging retrieval task: today's detection systems are faced with intricate situations, such as obfuscated plagiarism or plagiarism within and across languages. • Vandalism has always been one of Wikipedia's biggest problems. However, the detection of vandalism is done mostly manually by volunteers, and research on automatic vandalism detection is still in its infancy.
QA: ResPubliQA 2010 • Link: http://celct.isti.cnr.it/ResPubliQA/ • ResPubliQA: Given a pool of 500 independent natural language questions, systems must return the passage (not the exact answer) that answers each question from the JRC-Acquis collection of EU documentation. Both questions and documents are translated and aligned for a subset of languages (at least Bulgarian, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian and Spanish)
WePS 3: searching information about entities in the Web • Link: http://nlp.uned.es/weps/ • WePS 3 will be a competitive evaluation campaign including two tasks concerning the Web entity search problem: • Task 1 is related to Web People Search and focuses on person name ambiguity and person attribute extraction on Web pages • Task 2 is related to Online Reputation Management (ORM) for organizations and focuses on the problem of ambiguity for organization names and the relevance of Web data for reputation management purposes.

CLEF 2010 - LogCLEF • Link: http://www.uni-hildesheim.de/logclef/ • Log data constitute a relevant aspect in the evaluation process of the quality of a search engine and the quality of a multilingual search service; log data can be used to study the usage of a search engine, and to better adapt it to the objectives the users were expecting to reach. • The goal of LogCLEF is the analysis and classification of queries in order to understand search behavior in multilingual contexts and ultimately to improve search systems.
