All About Mexico • Mexico is a federal constitutional republic in North America. • The capital is Mexico City, which is one of the world’s most populous metropolitan areas. • Mexico is the fifth-largest country in the Americas and the 14th largest independent nation in the world. • The estimated population of this country is 109 million.

Felipe Calderon took office as President of Mexico in December 2006. • Calderon has been trying to clean up Mexico City’s greater urban area for nearly a decade. • During his presidency, he has provided periodic crackdowns, including a nationwide war against the drug trade in 2006. • Even after huge anticrime marches, crime is still one of the key difficulties destroying the 20 million people in the area.

  10. This was seized from a ship in Manzanillo, Mexico in 2007. 26 tons of cocaine, which is more then $400 million worth on the street. This is the biggest drug bust on record for Mexico.
