Dear Connor, Amy, Rob, Scott, and David, I enjoyed receiving your letter. I would be happy to answer your questions. I lived from 1885 to 1977. I lived the majority of my life in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am best known for inheriting the Eli Lilly and Co. pharmaceutical corporation and I played a major role in turning this company into a global giant. I was very active in my philanthropic works and I founded the Lilly Endowment. I became active in this work because I was inspired to help people’s lives through medical work. I followed my father’s work and studies at my father’s alma mater, Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. As successful as I was in pharmaceuticals, I am most proud that I had the opportunity to become active in philanthropy work. I became involved in philanthropy because I believed that giving is the responsibility of people who make money. I tried my best to do what is best for the community. The results of my philanthropic work were the Lilly Endowment which is one of the countries largest private foundations that supports private schools, education, religion, and community service. I also sought out organizations whose mission and work I believed was important. My Eli Lilly and Co. pharmaceutical corporation is one of the largest manufactures of medical products in the world. Sincerely, Eli Lilly
The End Special thanks to Robin Hood
