  8. OUR OUTREACH MAX Rocks the Community… 98.1 The MAX is a an integral part of various fundraisers across the market. Our December Operation Blue Balls promotion creates special Christmas ornaments for sale, with proceeds benefiting Project Package, an armed forces benevolence organization, to help send comfort items to Tri-State troops stationed in the Middle East during the Christmas season. Drake and Zeke spearheaded construction of two community gardens with the “Field Of Greens” program. A half-acre garden at Shelby Farms is raising organically-grown vegetables that will be given to the Mid-South Food Bank. A second garden on Angelus street in Mid-Town is producing food for the residents of the area who maintain the garden. 98.1 The Max and sister Citadel Broadcasting stations WGKX, WRBO and WKIM are supporting ticket sales for the Memphis Chapter of the American Red Cross’ Boa Ball-A Red Tie Affair. Proceeds from the formal ball will aid local efforts of the Red Cross in fire and flood relief for area residents. 98.1 The MAX and Citadel’s sister stations promote Subsidium’s Carrousel of Shops. Over 110 merchants donate profits from this 3-day sale to the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf.
