  3. Issue before the Court • Does racial segregation of children in public schools violate equal protection 14th amendment?

  4. Verdict • Overturn Plessy v. Ferguson • Separate facilities are inherently unequal

  5. Impact • States saw this as an infringement of state rights to provide education and many fought against it • Civil Rights movement • Desegregation in other areas
