The MARKET NEED & END-USES • The MAGLEV Train Alternative will provide a solution to the congestion and expense of travel, revolutionizing transportation of the 21st century. • MAGLEV transportation will provide anyone and everyone with a new, reliable and fast means of travel. It will transform inter- and intra- city transport. • MAGLEV Trains will take ground transportation to new heights with respect to speed, capable of up to 500kph. • MAGLEV Trains make use of electromagnetic propulsion, lessening the need for fossil fuels. • The MAGLEV Train Alternative provides: • Job creation in high-technology, manufacturing and construction • Economic growth • High-speed transportation • Less congestion • Low noise & air pollution • Cheaper, safer transportation The MAGLEV Alternative

HOW ELECTROMAGNETIC SUSPENSION (EMS) WORKS • Superconducting induction coils are attached to the undercarriage and guide-way • Levitation is based on attractive force between electromagnets on the undercarriage and guide-way stator packs. Magnetic Suspension / Levitation • Power is supplied by both primary generators and a limited backup battery. • Propulsion is achieved using a linear motor that alternates current in the cable windings to push and pull the train along The MAGLEV Linear Motor Principle: Alternating Field pulls and pushes vehicle forward Alternative

ELECTROMAGNETIC SUSPENSION SYSTEM • Stable levitation is achieved using height sensors and a microcontroller. • The microcontroller communicates with the operator and/or base station. • Propulsion is controlled by varying the current to the linear motor system • The train may also use conventional “wheel on rail” systems The MAGLEV Alternative

  5. MICROCONTROLLER SUBSYSTEM • The Microcontroller and peripherals would be located in a secure protective housing. Shielding from EM field radiation protects the electronics inside.   6. CONCLUSION • The problem: Increasing population, pollution, congestion and travel expense. These problems require fast, energy efficient, environmentally friendly inter and intra city transport sysytems. • The solution: MAGLEV will provide reliable, fast travel with the following advantages over existing systems: • Lower energy cost per person, per mile • Cheaper, safer, more reliable • Higher speeds • Lower noise & air pollution • The Implementation: Electromagnetic Suspension (EMS) uses the attractive force of magnetic fields to suspend and propel a train at 500kph and over.
