La Conférence des grandes écoles A non profit organisation whichinclude 212 public and private « Schools » (fieldsspecialised and highleveluniversities): • 143 engineering schools • 34 management schools • 22 schoolswithotherspecialfields (arts, architecture, veterinarymedecine…) • And13 universitiesabroad, 9 companies and 43 non profit organisation • Role of • Joint activities: organize commissions and workshops (on sustainabledevelopment for example), members information • Promotion of the “GrandesEcoles” in France and abroad: exchange, experience share, lobbying • Accreditation: authorize educational programmes issued by members (post-master named “Mastère” for example)

The Conference of University Presidents  (CPU) The Conference of University Presidents (CPU), as defined in Article L233-1 of the French Code of Education, is composed of the directors of universities, national polytechnic institutes, écoles normales supérieures, grandes écoles, and research and higher education clusters (PRES). (around 100 establishments) At a time of profound change in the higher education and research sector, the CPU also supports presidents in their new responsibilities and promotes the French university system and its values. One platform for multiple Tools “Assessment Instrument for Sustainability in Higher Education”, Launched in the Netherlands, 2001 (used by 100 Universities) • 6 chapters : Identity / Education / Research / Operations, and Societal Outreach Alternative University Appraisal (Japan, 2009) • Governance / education / research / outreach, Evaluación de las políticas universitarias de sostenibilidad como facilitadoras , Launched in Spain, 2010 (used by 50 Universities) • Governance / Research and Teaching / Campus Management LiFE Index (Learning in Future Environments) initially launched in 2011 UK then Australasia • Leadership and Governance / Learning, Teaching and Research / Partnerships and Engagement / Estates and Operations STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System) launched in USA 2007 (350 users) • Education & Research / Operations / Planning / Admin. & Engagement Green Plan, Launched in France 2009 (100 users in 2010 and 2012) • Strategy & Governance / Social policy and local community engagement / Campus management / Teaching and learning / Research, AISHE

  5. Green Plan Self assessment and management tool Implement article 55 – law grenelle 1 august 2009 the 3rd « Higher education institutions will develop a «Green Plan» for their campus. The higher education institutions shall ask for a labelisation based on sustainable development criterias ». The basics knowledge of sustainable development • Minimum level knowledge assessment on sustainable developpment for any kind of level tertiary diploma (Bachelors, Masters, MBAs, PhD) all over the world • 2 types of questions : • Challenges facing Society and the Planet • Organizations responsibility, practices throughout an organization and questions on the responsibility of individuals as employees and citizens
