Come to the CreekParent Presentation Sloan Creek Intermediate 6th Grade
Our Vision Growing and learning together, we become leaders. TACKLE the CHALLENGE!
Philosophy of SCIS • Sloan Creek Intermediate School will be a bridge between elementary school and middle school. SCIS will build a solid foundation for all students so they may thrive and grow to be productive learners in a safe and age appropriate environment. There will be a step up from 5th to 6th.
We will be following the 7 Habits. • Habit 1: Be proactive. You’re in charge. • Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind. Have a plan. • Habit 3: Put first things first. Work first, then play. • Habit 4: Think win-win. Everyone can win. • Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then to be understood. Listen before you talk. • Habit 6: Synergize. Together is better. • Habit 7: Sharpen the saw. Balance is best.
PRE – AP FOR ALL The state of Texas designates three levels of instruction for the core academic areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies: • Traditional • Pre-AP (Preparation for Advanced Placement) – Challenging coursework that engages students on a high level in preparation for high school AP courses. • AP (Advanced Placement) – Advanced high school coursework taught on a college level. Students who pass AP exams can earn college credit.
PRE-AP FOR ALL Lovejoy believes that every student should have the opportunity to achieve his/her highest potential. To that end, all regular core academic 6th grade and middle-school courses are taught at the Pre-AP level. Not all students will choose to continue into the high school AP program, but all students are given the opportunity to prepare for this option.
