The art of advertising Performance • “there’s a live one under the hood. (have you priced a tiger lately)” • Rather than being seen as a type of “utility” vehicles were made to take on a personality of their own, something more than just a car
Eternal Youth • A man, his car, and his girl, regardless of the order, it’s the “eternal triangle” • People in the commercials were also much more “visible” than they are now. The target audience was actually featured in the commercials, not just movie stars.

100,000 Mile/10 Year warranty • This incentive attracts customers to buy their car as it makes them feel as if they have long term coverage for the vehicle that they are spending their money on.
Cash Back • This incentive gives the buyer the perception that they are actually gaining something when they are purchasing this car from the dealer
“0” down • This promotion is a very good incentive, it allows car buyers to purchase a car without being required to pay anything on the day it is purchased.

Free Oil Changes • This incentive attracts customers because a set amount of oil changes are covered with the purchase of the car, so they customer does not pay out of pocket when it is time for an oil change
Free Luggage • When you purchased a car in the 1940’s the buyer bought more than just a car, they bought adventure. With Americas brand new highway system they were encouraged to travel. So as an incentive sell cars, some dealers offered free luggage with their cars
