Upton Sinclair, 1906 The Jungle, raised concern about meat packing industry Margaret Sanger, nurse who sought to assist women in having control of reproductive functions Suffragists: Carrie Chapman Catt, Alice Paul Jacob Riis: photographer wanting to show images of the poor Progressives in the public

  11. Roosevelt brings it to Washington Accepted idea of growth…..curb abuses Widened federal bureaucracy More actively involved government across the board Conservatives squawking!! Progressivism and Politics
