  3. Background Started as an initiative of Wharton and SAIS faculty in 1982 Program has more than 200 alumni Currently, there are 20 students enrolled in the program

Program Overview • Total Completion Time: 3 years (3 semesters at each school) • SAIS requires 3 semesters of residency, either Washington, Bologna or Nanjing • MBA Degree at Wharton • MA in Int’l Relations and Int’l Economics from SAIS • Apply before or during 1st year at Wharton • Two possible schedules: - Fall 2010 through Fall 2011:SAIS, Spring 2012:Wharton - Fall 2010: SAIS, Spring 2011: Wharton, Fall 2011 & Spring 2012: SAIS

  5. Program Overview - SAIS • Fulfill concentration requirements • Pass two core exams from list: • American Foreign Policy • Theories of IR • Comparative National Systems • Evolution of the International System • Complete 12 non-language courses for credit • Pass language proficiency examination

  6. Concentration Options All students must do a concentration in international economics (4 courses) All students must do an additional concentration

  7. Campus Options Washington, DC Bologna Nanjing (classes taught in Mandarin)

  8. Admissions Criteria Bachelor’s Degree GRE or GMAT Two Essays (Statement of Purpose and Supplemental) Two Recommendation Letters Make sure you explain why you want a joint degree!!! Application Deadline: January 7, 2011
