  2. Introduction The world we live today has fundamentally changed with the introduction of modern communications technology. With the presence of radio, television, computer, direct broadcast satellites, magazines and newspapers human communication becomes easier and very accessible.

  3. Introduction We are now growing up in the center of a technological revolution. Digital media defines our lives in unprecedented ways like spending more time online, texting, watching TV and movies, and playing video games than we do in school or with our families.

  4. Introduction The purpose of this case study is to present the kind of life growing up with media and present studies and findings which will give us insights and eventually take part in making use of these technologies fruitful and educational one.

  5. Related Literature Television device use for the transmission of visual images of moving and stationary objects, generally with accompanying sound, as electromagnetic waves and reconversion of received waves into visual images.

  6. Related Literature According to the United Nations study, the average daily use of television among those school age children around the world with access ranges from between 1.5 hours to more than four hours; many of these same children will rarely read a book.

  7. Related Literature United Nations (2002) revealed that use of Television is the most common activity done by children around the world while the use of internet is widely increasing.

  8. Related Literature Computer an electronic device which accepts and processes data by following a set of instructions (program) to produce an accurate and efficient result (information).

  9. Related Literature In spite of significant differences among the developed and developing world, the use of computers and the internet is rising steadily, fastest among young men.

  10. Related Literature (Common Sense Media, 2009) revealed that 93% of kids with age ranging from 12 to 17 are online users. While online, 53% listen to MP3 players, 40% talk on the phone, 39% watch TV, 24% do their homework.

  11. Related Literature In Asia, the countries like South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam and Philippines were the top internet users (Gilas, 2007).

  12. Related Literature As of 2011, there are 5 hundred billion Facebook users alone which is approximately 1 in every 13 people on earth and half of them are logged in on any given day.

  13. Related Literature Among the students being surveyed, 96% admitted sending texts and 73% admitted making calls every day while 60% admitted being addicted doing it.

  14. Related Literature According to Consumer Reports (2009-13) an estimated 7.5 million pre-teens including 5 million under the age of 10 are on a social network sites like Facebook.

  15. Discussion/Insights Regularly there are questions about the "effects" of all these media on children. Is it good for them? Is it bad for them? Will passive TV viewing cause permanent changes in brain functioning?

  16. Discussion/Insights Does violence breed violence? Does loud music over stimulate kids so they can't sleep properly? Will too many commercials cause narcissistic over consumption?

  17. Discussion/Insights There are no simple answers to these questions. However, it is also evident that growing numbers of incidents involving the use of media technology has been observed.

  18. Discussion/Insights In discussing this topic, much more is involved than lamenting the "effects" of too much television or computer use. We adults often think we know more than the children who are smaller and younger and thus "less experienced."

  19. Discussion/Insights But now children can be much updated to what is the latest buzz around than what we know. What we must do is to be aware of the pros and cons that technology can offer to us and it is now our responsibility to do the filtering.

  20. Discussion/Insights We must choose not just because we liked the idea but we must also base it on our moral, social, cultural and even spiritual obligation.

  21. Discussion/Insights We teachers are one of the most influential people around the world.

  22. Discussion/Insights Therefore aside from our leaders, we should be the one to make moves to continue, preserve and ensure that our race will not be somewhat like that of the history of dinosaurs where you can only find and read them through the books.

  23. Discussion/Insights Truly this is a big challenge to face but if others are not accepting it, We should be!
