  1. How to Choose the Best Toothbrush for Your Dental Needs

  2. Dental Cleaning Device • The most common dental cleaning device is undeniably the toothbrush. Dentists recommend that you change your brush every 3-4 months or as soon as you notice that bristles are already frayed. • When replacing your toothbrush, you’ll be confronted with a ton of choices. There’s the typical manual toothbrush types and the battery powered ones. Which should you go for?

  3. Here are general guidelines you can follow.

  4. Bristle Type • You’ll notice that toothbrush bristles are not created equal. Types vary from soft, medium, to hard. For majority of users, the soft bristle type will work best. Some, on the other hand, may feel that firmer, harder bristles can clean better. • This, in turn, can heighten tooth sensitivity. Add to that, brushing too hard does not guarantee effective removal of food residue and stains. It’s important that you use gentle hands regardless the bristle type you choose.

  5. Handle Size • The toothbrush handle should be long enough for you to hold it comfortably. You’ll reach farther areas of your mouth with a long enough handle. Observe your grip as well. • If you feel you’re putting too much work in holding your brush or your arms feel easily exhausted, you may want to check powered toothbrushes. Note too that brushing should be done for at least 2 minutes, making sure every area is covered, especially those at the back.

  6. Toothbrush Head Size • You’ll notice that toothbrush head sizes vary. Larger head sizes may be more challenging to maneuver. Take note which toothbrush size and shape you feel most comfortable in.

  7. Seek Professional Advice • Always seek advice from your dentist regarding dental devices that you use. Your dentist knows your dental requirements best. Hence, they will also be able to recommend the best type of toothbrush for you. • If you are experiencing anxiety or fears seeing your dentist, don’t be shy to let them know. These cases are common so there’s nothing to feel embarrassed about. What’s important is your oral health.

  8. Check these Out! • Don’t forget to bring your dental care kit anywhere you go. And don’t delay getting a new toothbrush. It’s a lot cheaper than dental treatment costs. Take note of tips we’ve shared above when choosing a new toothbrush! • Brought to you by Image Dental Care. For more info on children dentistry in Red Deer, check out: https://imagedental.ca
