  1. Emergency Dentist for Kids - Elmwood Park Dental Toothache is the worst for kids as the pain is not only unbearable but consistent as well. Mostly It occurs when the bacterial decay of the child’s tooth penetrates the nerves and muscular blood vessels, which are very sensitive. Cavities cause toothache, and cavities are caused by sugary drinks, sodas, candies, and other products that contain sugar in high concentrations. Toothache can be treated at home but will not provide a permanent solution. Kids with toothache must visit a pediatric dentist as soon as possible to take care of the problem before it gets more serious. Home treatments include the child drinking warm water with a pinch of salt and a pack of ice against the cheek, where the toothache is. Kid’s Toothache When a child visits an emergency dentist for kids , the first thing the nurse or pediatric dentist would ask is whether the kid broke a baby tooth or permanent tooth. This is because different procedures are taken in these two different cases. The pain of a knocked-out baby tooth is considered minute to that of a permanent tooth. In the case of a baby tooth, x-rays will be taken to make sure no permanent teeth were affected. Otherwise, no other treatment is normally required. Depending on the kid’s age, your dentist may put a spacer between the tooth, so other teeth don’t crowd the place where a permanent tooth is to emerge. Kid’s Broken Tooth The most common dental problem for kids is a broken tooth. Broken teeth are caused by the chipping/fracture of the tooth. A broken tooth is normally caused by falling, stumbling over or trauma to the face. The larger the fracture, the more painful it is for the child. A temporary solution to this would be to rinse the child’s mouth with warm salt water immediately. Visiting a pediatric dentist is a must if the tooth broken is a permanent one. Child’s Age Limit for a Pediatric Dentist There are several reasons why a parent may choose a pediatric dentist over a family one. Like, Pediatric dentist study 2 more years with children specializing in training, pediatric dental clinics are packed with a dedicated staff to helping the children, and they have comforting offices for children. But at a certain age, a child must start going to a normal dentist who, for most children, is when they hit puberty or in their mid-teens.
