Know the Correct Time for Emergency Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth are the third molars, which erupt in the late teens or early twenties. If this set of teeth is erupting correctly and not causing any pain, you would not need emergency wisdom tooth extraction. A few experts suggest wisdom teeth removal, to ensure that the complete set does not move, but usually it would not be an emergency.

  1. Know the Correct Time for Emergency Wisdom Tooth Extraction Wisdom teeth are the third molars, which erupt in the late teens or early twenties. If this set of teeth is erupting correctly and not causing any pain, you would not need emergency wisdom tooth extraction. A few experts suggest wisdom teeth removal, to ensure that the complete set does not move, but usually it would not be an emergency. If your wisdom teeth are impacted, you need to make an emergency trip to the Thompson road dental clinic or any other dental office. Experts consider it an emergency because the third molars failed to fully erupt, causing them to grow sideways or not erupt further. The few signs that confirm an issue with the wisdom teeth are: Inflammation or discomfort: If the tooth has not erupted correctly, food and bacteria tend to accumulate between the gum line and the molar, causing tooth decay or gum infection. It would lead to discomfort and pain, and the condition is termed as pericoronitis. Ignoring the situation would cause inflammation and further deterioration of normal teeth.

  2. Sensitivity or difficulty in chewing: Many patients do not understand the problem; hence, ignore it. Without proper treatment, the impacted wisdom teeth can cause oral infections. Many people experience severe pain and discomfort in the latter part of the jaw. A few people also face difficulty in biting or chewing, mainly due to stiffness caused by the infection. Fever: In an extreme case, the patient experience fever and severe issues with jaw movement. Individual patients also complain about bleeding gums, around the wisdom teeth. If you notice any of the symptoms mentioned above, it would be ideal to contact an experienced dentist. They would check on the condition to suggest the best possible solution. In most cases, they would recommend tooth extraction but would wait for the pain to subside.
