  1. What is Dental implants?

  2. What is Dental implants? • Dental implants are an excellent long-term option for the replacement of one or multiple missing or failing teeth. It can help patients enjoy their favourite foods and restore confidence in their smile. • Implants can be used in a variety of scenarios within the mouth. From replacing a single tooth, to replacing multiple teeth and even stabilising loose dentures. • An implant isn’t the only option to replace missing teeth. There are other options which include: Bridges and Cosmetic Dentures. • Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are used to replace missing teeth. They provide a strong foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth and are designed to look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Dental implants are considered a long-term solution for tooth loss and have a high success rate.

  3. Steps of Dental implants Evaluation and Planning Implant Placement Your dentist or oral surgeon will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and jawbone to determine if you are a suitable candidate for dental implants. This may include X-rays, CT scans, or other imaging techniques. They will also develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. The first stage of the procedure involves surgically placing the dental implant into your jawbone. This is usually done under local anesthesia, but sedation options may be available for those who are anxious or require more extensive treatment. The implant is typically made of titanium, which has the ability to fuse with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration.

  4. Steps of Dental implants Healing and Integration After implant placement, a healing period is required to allow the implant to integrate with the jawbone. This process can take several weeks to several months, during which time the bone tissue grows around the implant, securing it in place.

  5. Steps of Dental implants Abutment Placement Crown Placement Finally, a custom-made dental crown, which resembles a natural tooth, is attached to the abutment. The crown is designed to match the color, shape, and size of your existing teeth, resulting in a seamless and aesthetically pleasing restoration. Once the implant has fully integrated, a small connector called an abutment is attached to the implant. The abutment serves as the foundation for the artificial tooth or teeth that will be placed on top of the implant.

  6. Overview • Dental implants offer numerous advantages over other tooth replacement options, such as dentures or bridges. They provide improved chewing ability, enhanced speech, and a more natural appearance. Additionally, dental implants help maintain the health and integrity of the jawbone by preventing bone loss that can occur when a tooth is missing. • It's important to note that the success and longevity of dental implants depend on various factors, including oral hygiene, overall health, and the expertise of the dental professional performing the procedure. Regular dental check-ups and diligent oral care are crucial to ensure the long-term success of dental implants.
