    2. Business Model Design, manufacture and sell optical switching subsystems to communications equipment manufacturers. Deliver 100% optical switching solutions robust and flexible enough for the core metropolitan area network. Ovidiums business model is to design, manufacture and sell optical subsystems to communications equipment manufacturers who then integrate our products into their larger optical networking systems. These systems are then sold to network carriers like SBC, Verizon or Qwest. Ovidium will develop 100% optical switching solutions that support network: Protection Restoration Fast provisioning Bandwidth-on-demand, and Optical add-drop applications. Ovidiums business model is to design, manufacture and sell optical subsystems to communications equipment manufacturers who then integrate our products into their larger optical networking systems.     7. The Photonics Chain You probably know were on the verge of an optical revolution in telecommunications. Around the world, optical fiber is currently being installed at the rate of 1,000 meters every second, comparable to the speed of a Mach 2 aircraft. KMI market research estimated the 2001 overall market for Fiber Optics related products and services at over $20 billion annually. Ovidium is initially targeting the middle of the value chain, Optical Subsystems and Modules. And even more specifically, next generation switches. We believe this highly value added segment is attractive because it provides protection against commoditization at the component level and avoids the expense associated with directly servicing and supporting end user customers such as Qwest and Verizon. Competition will come from both incumbent electronic switch providers and emerging all-optical switch providers. While the field is crowded, Ovidium will be well positioned with a high performance technology and a highly focused target market. As you can see, the emerging all-optical players have established a very small market share in the $2B optical switching switching market. What companies could be a threat in the future if they decided to enter into your market space? While companies like Lucent are also developing all optical switches, they have focused on costly hardware based solutions targeted at very high end solutions in long haul network applications. According to most market analysts, the majority of the markets growth will come from the smaller metro network applications, the sweet spot for a more flexible, software-based provider like Ovidium. We are fortunate to have Dr. Richard Juday, the NASA scientist that invented our technology as a co-founder and our chief scientist. Our other team members have extensive business, engineering, fiber optics and financial experience. The founding Ovidium team has the experience, maturity and skill set to execute our business plan.
