Part 1: Context • 21st century practice skills – increasing use of ICT • Care council requirements – ‘ECDL equivalent’ computer skills (Wales, Scotland, & England) • Sept 2009 modifications to ICT requirements (England GSCC) • Changing emphasis incl. blended learning (technology-enhanced learning) as a means to develop skills for study and for practice (see Handout p.1, item 6.4)
Context and challenges • Unqualified practitioners sponsored by employer (‘Grow your own’) • Already working in practice, bringing experience & expectations • Older, perhaps lacking experience of ICT • Varied work settings and roles • Geographic and demographic breadth

Level 2: SW practice related ICT skills • Present research to your team using PowerPoint • Create a presentation based on an extract of Scottish service users’ and carers’ views: What makes a good social worker?
Level 2: SW practice related ICT skills • Prepare a care plan budget (case study scenario) • Mavis wishes to return home after her accident. Help her devise a care plan budget.
