  2. 6th BRAZ-TESOL Manaus Chapter Event Rina Barreiro & Kesä Lehti 6th May 2011 SHOUTING DICTATION Procedures: Get Ss to sit in two lines facing each other. The lines should be a good distance apart. The person they face is their shouting dictation partner. Ss must then take turns and dictate to each other the text , stopping when they have got a blank / blanks. When the S dictating comes to a blank, it is then their partner’s turn to continue until the next blank / blanks. The noise of so many Ss speaking will lead to the raising of voices, therefore, the name “shouting dictation”. The T can add to this by walking up and down between the rows talking nonsense or playing some music. The pair who has the fewest mistakes is the winner!

  4. Procedures: A volunteer S reads out a short text with gaps. The other Ss have to write down the text with the gaps. After writing down the text, the Ss, including the volunteer S, complete the gaps with the correct verb in the correct tense (or adjective, noun or any other teaching point being revised).   6. Procedures: Class is divided into small groups. Each group gets a sentence or two from the text in random order. One person from each group has to dictate their sentence/sentences to the rest of the class and the groups then have to decide on the correct order of the sentences.   9. PROCEDURES: Teacher dictates part of a paragraph to the rest of the class without using either rhythm, stress, intonation or dictating any punctuation marks. The men wrote: “Woman, without her man, is nothing.” The women wrote: “Woman! Without her, man is nothing.”
