  2. What is a Peer Helper ? • Assists in making our school a comfortable, safe, and fun place to learn • Helps students new to the district get to know JSAMS • Helps out with school programs and activities

  3. Characteristics of a Peer Helper • Trustworthy • Dependable • Respectful • Fair • Good Listener • Self-disciplined • Good judgment . . . but not perfect! 

  4. To become a Peer Helper and continue to be a Peer Helper,a Peer Helper must …

  5. (PH requirements) • good role model • grade average of “C” or higher • good school attendance • complete school work

  6. model appropriate social skills • be responsible for duties assigned • participate in continued trainings • follow a strict policy of confidentiality

  7. ? How are Peer Helpers selected ? Students, teachers, and other staff can recommend students to be Peer Helpers during nominations at the beginning of the school year. Some students will be selected to complete an application. Applications are carefully reviewed by guidance counselors, teachers, and administrators.

  8. ? How are Peer Helpers selected ? Parent permission must be given to participate. Students must be willing to participate in training. Training 2011 ALL DAY Friday, November 4th at the District Service Center (Administration Building) This is an “early dismissal” day. We will depart the Middle School by bus after Homeroom. Trainees will need their own transportation home. LUNCH and SNACKS are provided! 
